BEETROOT HALWA
This delectable dessert is popular as a winter delicacy in the north of India. It’s typically served as a street-side dessert or at indian weddings.
Preparation time: 30 minutes (Serves 2)
Ingredients:
• 5 grated large beetroots
• 80 gms sugar
• 1 ltr milk
• 4 tbsp ghee
• ½ tsp cardamom powder
• 2 tbsp almonds (chopped)
• 2 tbsp pistachios (chopped)
• Salt as required
Preparation:
• Ghee roast beetroot in a casserole
• Cook for 5 minutes
• Add the milk, stir and cover
• Let it simmer for 15 minutes
• Remove the lid and start stirring
• Add the sugar at this stage
• Cook till it dries for the next 3-4 minutes.
• Finish with the cardamom and nuts
