    BEETROOT HALWA

    This delectable dessert is popular as a winter delicacy in the north of India. It’s typically served as a street-side dessert or at indian weddings. 

    Preparation time: 30 minutes (Serves 2) 

    Ingredients:

           5 grated large beetroots

           80 gms sugar

           1 ltr milk

           4 tbsp ghee

           ½ tsp cardamom powder

           2 tbsp almonds (chopped)

           2 tbsp pistachios (chopped)

           Salt as required 

    Preparation:

           Ghee roast beetroot in a casserole

           Cook for 5 minutes

           Add the milk, stir and cover

           Let it simmer for 15 minutes

           Remove the lid and start stirring

           Add the sugar at this stage

           Cook till it dries for the next 3-4 minutes.

           Finish with the cardamom and nuts
