GOAN FISH CURRY
Goan Fish Curry is the most popular curry in Goa. It uses a traditional Goan curry paste which makes it so delectable. A hearty use of coconut, chillies and kokum brings in the much-loved coastal flavour.
Preparation time: 30 minutes (Serves 2)
For Fish Curry
Ingredients:
• 300 gms pomfret/sea fish
• 6-7 Kashmiri red chillies dry
• 1 small stick of cinnamon
• 1 inch piece of fresh ginger
• Pinch of turmeric
• 2 tsp coriander seeds
• 1 cup fresh coconut
• 1 tsp mustard seeds
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• 4-5 kokum petals
• 3 cloves of garlic
Salt as required
Preparation:
• Dry roast the coriander, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, cinnamon, red chillies and coconut
• Wet grind it with turmeric, ginger and garlic and reserve this paste
• Heat oil in a pan/kadhai
• Temper with onions and green chillies
• Add the coconut paste, water and kokum
• Let it simmer for 20-25 minutes
• Add fish, coconut milk, tomatoes and curry leaves (optional)
• Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes on a slow flame
• Serve hot with rice
For Tempering
Ingredients:
• 1 tbsp vegetable oil
• 2 green chillies
• 1 onion chopped
• 1 tomato diced in quarters
• 3 tsp tamarind pulp
• 1 cup coconut milk
• 10 curry leaves
